Part II
October 31, 2004
After a long day of mudding and chasing cows it was getting dark and time to go spotlighting for some coyotes at the Jenkins Farm. Realizing that I needed to cross the creek to get to where the coyotes were, and knowing that the creek was too muddy to cross (I know this because I had been mudding in it and trying to cross it all day long) I decided to use a little "cow-power" to forge the rapids. I knew that one of the cows had a tendency to charge so I chased her for a while until she was really mad. I then ran up to her and slammed my Honda Rancher into reverse and hit the gas. She was right on my front bumper as I backed toward the creek. As I approached the creek, I slowly left off of the throttle so that the cow was pushing the four-wheeler. After she pushed me across the creek I hit the gas and cut the wheel doing a 180-degree turn and shifted to a forward gear and got out of the charging beast's path. Now, with the help of one gullible cow and a super strong TMU front brush guard/bumper, I was on the coyote side of the creek and was ready to yell "Ah-Haah-Ah" and chase some coyotes. Check back soon to hear how I got back across the creek after putting the kibosh on some coyotes.
